Daniel O'Connell, lawyer; born, Liverpool, England, Mar. 10, 1844; son of
James M. (native of Ireland) and Esther (Hamilton) Tracy; came to United States
when eight years of age; educated in Benton (public) School, St. Louis, and
public schools of New Orleans, La., aud part of post-graduate course at St.
Louis University; married, St. Louis, Aug. 5, 1869, Caroline K. Kernan;
children: Esther (now Mrs. H. D. Risdon), Joseph F. and Daniel J. Admitted to
bar at St. Louis, May 19, 1877; city attorney of St. Louis, 1877-88; city
register, 1885-89; appointed, June 16, 1902, judge Second District Police
Court, to serve unexpired term of Judge Wizlezness, resigned; judge First

Daniel J. Tracy to Be Deputy at First District.
The appointment of Daniel J Tracy to the vacancy caused by the
resignation of Harry O. Whelan In the deputy clerkship of the First District
Police Court, was confirmed yesterday bv Mayor Wells. The appointment was made
on the recommendation of O J. Macauly, clerk of the court.
Mr Tracy becomes an official of the court over which his father. Judge
Daniel O'C Tracy, presides. The salary of the office Is $1,000? annually, and
the term of office is four years.
The above is a likeness of Daniel O'Connell Tracy, now a sedate jurist
of St. Louis who, away back in the sixties was a member of the famous Empire
Baseball Club of St. Louis. Although an old man Tracy never misses a game at
St. Louis Major league parks.

School and the Johns Hopkins University, where he was a member of Phi Gamma

A memorial Mass for Daniel O'Connell Tracy, a retired executive
assistant who did volunteer work in the Baltimore area, will be offered at 10
a.m. tomorrow at SS. Philip and James Roman Catholic Church, 2801 N. Charles
St.
Mr. Tracy, who was 83 and lived in the Wyman Park Apartments, died of
cancer Dec. 27 at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center.
He had done volunteer work at senior centers, including the Waxter
Center and Union Memorial Hospital.
Before he retired and moved here from Robesonia, Pa., about 15 years
ago, he was assistant to the president of Caron Spinning Co., a thread company
with which he had been associated since the late 1940s.
During World War II, he was a Red Cross field director at Fort Sill,
Okla., before serving in the U.S. Navy.
A native of St. Louis, he graduated from Washington University there in
1931.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Mary Virginia
Corrigan; two sons, Daniel O'Connell Tracy Jr. of Baltimore and George P. Tracy
of Centreville, Va.; two daughters, Mary Burch Ford of Milton, Mass., and
Virginia R. Perkins of Fort Smith, Ark.; a brother, Joseph F. Tracy of
Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Betty T. Parker of Indian Harbor Beach, Fla., and
Peggy T. deVlaming of Buena Park, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.
The family suggested memorial contributions to the Caron Foundation,
which operates an alcoholism rehabilitation center in Wernersville, Pa.
