Margaret
Tracey was born on March 28, 1967, in Pueblo, Colorado USA
to the Honorable Judge John Royer Tracey and Nancy Mechling. Her father is a
retired judge and her mother a dance teacher,. She has a younger sister,
Kathleen, who also danced with New York City Ballet She has two older
brothers, Bruce a professor at Cornell University's School of Hotel
Management and Edward a professional chef. In 1996, she married Russell
Kaiser, a fellow New York City Ballet dancer and they have two children. Margaret Tracey began ballet studies with her
mother, Nancy, at age six. In 1982, she was accepted as a student at the
School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet
(NYCB). At SAB, she was the recipient of an Atlantic Richfield Foundation
scholarship (1982-85) as well as a Princess Grace Foundation award (1985-86)
that cited her “exceptional promise and dedication to excellence”. In 1986, Margaret joined the New York corps de
ballet (NYCB), launching a celebrated 16-year stage career. She was a
Principal Dancer from 1991 until her retirement in 2002. She excelled in the
Balanchine repertoire, appearing frequently in such core works as Apollo,
Allegro Brilliante, Ballo della Regina, Concerto Barocco, Serenade, Square
Dance, Symphony in C, Vienna Waltzes, Western Symphony, and Who Cares?, among
others. She was also featured in a range of Robbins’ ballets, including
Andantino, Afternoon of a Faun, The Four Seasons, and The Goldberg
Variations, and created a role in the choreographer’s Ives, Songs (1988). She
originated roles in works by William Forsythe, Richard Tanner, Ib Andersen,
Trey McIntyre and Peter Martins, including his Les Petit Riens, Fearful
Symmetries, Zakouski and his production of The Sleeping Beauty, in which she
appeared both as Princess Aurora and Princess Florine. With NYCB, Tracey
toured Europe and Asia, appeared in the PBS “Live from Lincoln Center”
series, and danced the Marzipan Shepherdess in the 1993 film of Balanchine’s
The Nutcracker. As a Balanchine Repetiteur, Margaret has staged
several of his works including, Concerto Barocco, Theme and Variations,
Scotch Symphony, Raymonda Variations, and Divertimento #15, among others on
both professional companies and schools. Since her retirment from New York City Ballet in
2002, Margaret has become an admired and dedicated teacher and arts advocate.
She joined the faculty of Boston Ballet School (BBS) in 2005 and served as
the Director from 2007-2021. In that time, she has transformed this highly
respected regional academy into one of the leading dance education
institutions in North America. She was profiled in a 2009 issue of Dance
Teacher Magazine. In 2011 she was recognized with a Jerome Robbins Foundation
award for her distinguished interpretation as a Robbins’ dancer. During her tenure at BBS, Tracey drew upon her
teaching experiences, studies in psychology, and ties to community clinicians
to initiate a comprehensive Wellness Program at BBS. She also created the
Next Generation, a year-end performance showcasing pre-professional students,
which has become an annual highlight that spotlights BBS as a leader in local
and regional arts education. Her stature in the dance world brought BBS
extraordinary access to the Balanchine and Robbins repertoire, enhancing the
training and performance experience for students. In addition, Margaret committed
to commissioning underrepresented voices in choreography by amplifying the
work of women and BIPOC choreographers such as Jill Johnson, Lia Cirio and
Ja’ Malik, among others. Margaret further distinguished BBS internationally
by establishing exchange programs with Canada’s National Ballet School, Paris
Opera Ballet School, the Royal Danish Ballet and Dresden’s Semperoper Ballet.
And under her leadership, BBS also became a Partner School with the
prestigious Prix de Lausanne international ballet competition. Margaret Tracey continues to dedicate her efforts as
a dance educator with a strong commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and
Access to champion change. In her final year at BBS, she implemented a
mentorship program, Color Our Future (COF) for students to connect with
professional dancers seeking racial equity in the field. She has served on
panels for MoBBallet’s annual educational symposiums (2019 and 2020) and has
worked with colleagues at Dance USA School Directors Affinity Group to share
learning around culturally responsive teaching practices to better support
faculty. Tracey’s work as an international arts educator continues as she
serves on the organizing committee for World Ballet School Day (2020 and
2021), an event that brings together students from across the globe to
highlight their voices and support the next generation of inspiring dance
artists. ref: https://pgfusa.org/award-winners-chronoorder/margaret-tracey/ https://www.prixdelausanne.org/spotlights/margaret-tracey/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Tracey 10 Mar

Kathleen
Tracey, Repertory Director New York City Ballet (NYCB) I grew up in southern Colorado, in a small town
called Pueblo. I started [my training] in summer courses, with San Francisco
Ballet, Ballet West, and then came out to the School of American Ballet and
did two summer courses there; then I [enrolled full-time] for the winter.
After graduating from SAB, I got into New York City Ballet, in 1987; I didn't
have to apprentice for any portion of the time, I was just offered a
contract, which was a little bit more common back when I was getting into the
Company. I spent four and a half years in the corps [de ballet], and then I
was promoted to soloist, and the year that I was promoted was the first time
I ever got to perform Agon. So that was pretty cool. That was in 1993, for
the [televised] Balanchine Celebration, which marked the 10-year anniversary
of Mr. B's passing. We did 73 or 74 of his pieces in the spring season, so we
only performed each ballet maybe three times over an eight-week season of
just his works. And then in 2002, I retired from the Company, but I
had started staging ballets a couple of years before that and wanted to find
out whether that was something that was interesting or something that was a
prospect for me; it turned out I liked it, and it liked me. So I continued
staging ballets. I think the first ballet I staged was Peter Martins' Fearful
Symmetries, in France. Then Christopher Wheeldon asked me to stage some of
his ballets, and the Robbins Trust hired me to learn their ballets and
potentially stage them as well, within and without the Company. And then I
finally got to stage a few Balanchine ballets here and there, outside of the
Company, and got some experience, and all the while I was still associated
with the Company as a kind of apprentice. That was when I got my
apprenticeship—as a repertory director! So that's a little short nutshell
version of the history of me here at City Ballet. |

Royer Tracey Please join us in welcoming Steel Crescent Kitchen
to the Fuel & Iron Food Hall! Founded by Pueblo-raised chef Edward
Tracey, Steel Crescent Kitchen will bring the thrilling flavors of New
Orleans to Pueblo with Cajun-inspired sandwiches and fresh salads. After
graduating from The Culinary Institute of America, Tracey worked at kitchens
across the globe, cooking on six continents (including Antarctica). He
returned to Pueblo in 2008, where he’s been a faculty member at Pueblo
Community College since 2012, achieving the level of Certified Executive Chef
with the American Culinary Federation in 2021. With delicious options like the
Shrimp Po’ Boy and a classic Muffuletta, Steel Crescent Kitchen was inspired
by the Arkansas River’s continuity as it runs through Pueblo, eventually
spilling into the Mississippi and down to New Orleans. 27 Jun
2022 The Pueblo Chieftain A New Orleans-style sandwich shop is the newest
restaurant concept coming to Pueblo's Fuel & Iron Food Hall when it opens
this fall at 400 S. Union Ave. Steel Crescent Kitchen, a concept created by Chef
Edward Tracey and his wife Dorothy, will feature an assortment of po' boys
and a Muffuletta sandwich with salads and sides. The concept debuted at a pop-up event on June 21 at
Bingo Burger, 101 Central Plaza, with Tracey serving Shrimp Po' Boys with
homemade potato chips and a Roasted Beet Carpaccio appetizer to a sold-out
crowd. To give the traditional New Orleans dish a bit of a
Pueblo twist, Tracey's po'boys were made with Pueblo chile aioli and the
beets were sourced locally from Milberger Farms. Tracey, who has cooked on six continents and is a
graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New York, said he created
the concept for Steel Crescent Kitchen after hearing several requests for
Cajun sandwiches at previous Fuel & Iron Food Hall pop-up events. "A big chunk of them wanted Cajun
sandwiches," he said. "I thought, ‘OK, great, I can do that. Get a
good baguette, get excellent shrimp, get a good dredge and Pueblo chile, make
aioli out of that — that's going to sell itself.’" Tracey was born in Rocky Ford and raised in Pueblo.
He is a Pueblo Centennial High School graduate who moved away from Pueblo but
returned in 2008. In 2012, he became a faculty member in the culinary program
at Pueblo Community College. After PCC discontinued its culinary program earlier
this year, Tracey was looking for work but didn't want to move to Colorado
Springs or Denver. He jumped at the opportunity to be part of the
upcoming food hall. "The opportunity to start my own little place
with my wife, it's too good to be true," he said. "It's a small
space so we have to be focused with our product and do a couple of things really,
really well instead of being all things to all people." Tracey met Fuel & Iron Project co-directors Zack
Cytryn and Nathan Stern while the PCC culinary program was looking for
employers to host apprenticeship programs for students. "It's hard to find a better resume than
(Tracey) has,” Stern said. “He has done absolutely everything other than own
his own restaurant. Meanwhile, through the culinary arts program, he has
mentored hundreds of students and has really been a pillar of the culinary
community here." Steel Crescent Kitchen will be one of five concepts
inside the upcoming Fuel & Iron Food Hall; other concepts include Diavolo
Pueblo Hot Chicken, Mosh Ramen and the plant-based The Cutting Board. A fifth
concept will be announced at the next pop-up event on July 19. |

John R. Tracey Retention Year: 1992 Recommendation: Retain John R. Tracey was admitted to the practice of law
in 1945. He was in private practice until appointed to the county court bench
in Pueblo County in 1973. He presided in County Court until 1983 when he was
appointed to the District Court bench. Judge Tracey is presently the Chief
District Court Judge and presides over Division D of the District Court. His
caseload includes criminal, civil, domestic, juvenile, and water court
matters. A survey conducted to evaluation the performance of
Judge Tracey sought responses from members of law enforcement, courthouse
personnel, attorneys, jurors, litigants and members of the community.
Comments were made concerning his administrative abilities; however, these
comments were not considered in his ratings as it is not a function of the
Commission to evaluate him as an administrator, but as a judge. Some
responses to the survey indicated Judge Tracey could improve on his legal
rulings. Most responses, however, praised Judge Tracey for being patient,
fair, and understanding and having honestly and integrity. Of the persons
responding to the survey, 89% recommended the retention of Judge Tracey. The 10th Judicial District Commission on Judicial
Performance recommends that Judge John R. Tracey be retained. https://judicialperformance.colorado.gov/tracey-john-1992-evaluation Nancy

Jay
Walter Tracey Jr September 24, 2007 The Denver Post Lawyer gave voice to much [.] It’s not often the world-famous Whippenpoofs of Yale
get the chance to learn the fight song of a small Colorado town. But Jay Tracey, an alum of the famed men’s a
cappella group, taught the singers there the fight song of the Meloneers of
Rocky Ford High School, Tracey’s alma mater. Tracey also invited another Yale singing group to
visit his hometown, known for its melons. “Everyone seemed to have a
remarkably good time,” said Jay Tracey’s brother, John Royer Tracey of
Pueblo. “Jay fixed them up with some of his girl friends.” Jay Tracey died in Cambridge, Mass., on Sept. 11. He
was 82. He had moved to nearby Brookline several years ago. Tracey was a partner in Denver’s Holland & Hart
law firm for more than 20 years. His passion, though, was singing. He sang and played trombone in high school and with
the U.S. Army Special Services Unit after World War II, traveling to France
and Switzerland, said his son John B. Tracey of Boston. Tracey thought of making music a career, but after
the “grueling trips” in an Army truck and nightly performances, he decided
against it, said his former wife, Betsy Tracey of Denver. Jay Tracey sang with the Yale Glee Club, and after
becoming a lawyer and moving to Denver, he helped write and perform in the
annual Twelfth Night satirical productions at the University Club in downtown
Denver, as well as productions of the Colorado Bar Association and the Denver
Law Group. He and some friends formed the New Wizard Oil Combination singing
group. The name was taken from an elixir that was sold in the Old West, said
his daughter, Anne Landstrom of Oakland, Calif. Jay Walter Tracey Jr. was born in Rocky Ford on June
13, 1925. After finishing his degree at Yale, he entered
Harvard Law school. He married Betsy Longfellow in 1952, and they had
four children. They later divorced, and he married Libby Folk Flinn in 1989. In the 1950s, he helped represent a Denver group
accused of violating the Smith Act, a law aimed at people accused of being
communists. The group was convicted, but the conviction was overturned on
appeal, said John B. Tracey. “It was ironic that he represented them because he
was such a conservative Republican,” his son added, “but he believed everyone
deserved a chance and he had a strong sense of justice.” Jay Tracey was a natural in the courtroom, said his
son, “because he was used to being in front of people and presenting.” In addition to his former wife and his brother, son
and daughter, Jay Tracey is survived by another son, William Henry Tracey of
Denver; 11 grandchildren; and his sister, Barbara Tracey Griffiths of
Lubbock, Texas. He was preceded in death by his son Jay W. Tracey III. https://www.denverpost.com/2007/09/24/lawyer-gave-voice-to-much/ Jay Walter Tracey III Denver

Tracey III's philosophy degree from a small California college made an
unconventional background for an investment portfolio manager. But Mr.
Tracey was known for his clear thinking, and he won an unexpected entree into
the money-management business in his early 20s after a weekend in the
mountains with the family of investment guru Bill Berger. Mr.
Tracey was dating Berger's daughter but wound up spending a good portion of
his time talking and playing backgammon with Berger. Berger was impressed by
Mr. Tracey's intelligence and soon hired him, said younger brother John
Tracey. That
helped launch Mr. Tracey's long, successful career managing Berger and
Founders funds in Denver, Oppenheimer portfolios in New York, and ultimately
his own Denver hedge fund, Bass River Capital, named after the family's Cape
Cod summer retreat. "Jay
was a natural for the business," John said. "He loved managing
money and he was extremely good at it." Mr.
Tracey collapsed in his office at his Denver home Monday morning, and died of
what is believed to have been a heart attack. He was 53. Family
and friends described Mr. Tracey as a lover of life and charismatic, with a
wonderful laugh and intellectual curiosity. He grew
up in Denver, attending Cherry Hills public schools, Denver Country Day (now
Kent) and Milton Academy in Massachusetts. He was the oldest of four
children. "Jay
was the rock of the family," John Tracey said. "He taught us
things. He was fun, he was funny and mischievous. He was always in control of
his life. He was kind of a leader in the family, but he would never lord it
over you." John
Tracey recalled fondly when his older brother returned home after receiving
his philosophy degree from the University of Redlands in California. "He
made it a mission for me to learn backgammon," said John Tracey, who was
then about 17. "We played it every afternoon, hanging out in our family
room." About
that time, Mr. Tracey started what would be a 12-year stint with Berger
Associates in Denver. He followed that with several years managing Founders
funds in Denver, then moved to New York, where he managed the Oppenheimer
Discovery and Enterprise funds. He became
a media favorite, often appearing as an expert on CNBC or being quoted by The
Wall Street Journal, and he was once featured on Louis Rukeyser's Wall Street
Week. In 2000,
he returned to Denver as the chief investment officer of Berger Funds before
striking out on his own in 2004. "He
was a fabulous father," said his wife, Marissa, who met Mr. Tracey in
New York. "Family was a huge priority to him, and one of the reasons we
left New York was so he could be here for (his son) Matthew while he was
finishing high school." Mr.
Tracey's routine included driving daughter Olivia, 8, to school, and he was
involved in the preschool activities of daughter Isabel, 5. His
hobbies, many of them dating to his youth, included skiing, golf and
photography. Marissa Tracey said her husband was an accomplished photographer
who found unique angles and juxtapositions of people and buildings. "He
was a great golf mate, ski mate," said friend Scott Shwayder. "He
was fiercely competitive but a fair guy, honest and ethical to the end." Mr.
Tracey believed in giving back to the community, including helping those less
privileged, Marissa Tracey said. She said
he was chairman of the finance committee of the Boys & Girls Clubs of
Metro Denver; a founding patron of the Laboratory of Arts and Ideas at
Belmar, a nonprofit supporting contemporary arts; and an advisory board
member at Milton Academy in Massachusetts. In
addition to his wife, three children and brother John, Mr. Tracey is survived
by his parents, Jay W. Tracey Jr. and Elizabeth H. Tracey; a sister, Anne;
and another brother, Will. A service
was held Wednesday at Temple Emanuel, with interment at Emanuel Cemetery
within Fairmount Cemetery. Contributions
