Gwendolyn H. (Tracy) Wisneski (1914-2012)
July 23, 2012
Gwendolyn Hudson (Tracy) Wisneski , a
longtime resident of Duxbury, died peacefully at Newfield House in Plymouth on
Monday July 23. 2012. She was just short of her 98th birthday.
Mrs. Wisneski was born in New York City in
1914, the second of two children of the late Lydia Hudson Tracy and Edward
Aloysius Tracy. The family moved to the Savin Hill section of Boston in 1919.
She attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Roxbury Memorial School
for Girls . In Boston, she met her husband, the late Frank Vincent Wisneski,
and they were married in 1941, the day before he was shipped out for U.S. Army
basic training in Fort Wallace, Texas. They celebrated their honeymoon on the
two-day train ride to Texas. Mrs. Wisneski worked in several administrative
roles at Fort Wallace during the next several years while her husband was
serving in both the European and Pacific theatres in World War II. After his
discharge in 1946, the Wisneskis' moved back to the Dorchester section of
Boston, where they had their first son, Frank Jr. They relocated to Weymouth in
1950, where they resided for 27 years and raised their family, which eventually
included a second son Edward.
In 1977 Mr. and Mrs. Wisneski moved to
Enterprise St. in Duxbury. They developed numerous friendships and were active
participants in many community and Senior Center activities. Seeking to
“downsize,” they moved to The Village at Duxbury in 2000. Mrs. Wisneski
relocated to Newfield House in 2010.
Known for her friendliness, great sense of
humor, and devotion to family, Gwen Wisneski will be missed by all who knew
her. She leaves her sons, Frank and his wife Lynn Dale of Duxbury, and Edward
and his wife Susan of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Corey Wisneski and her
husband Brian Caswell of Duxbury, and Ashley Wisneski of Boston;
great-granddaughters Amelia Lynne Caswell and Elsa Gwendolyn Caswell of
Duxbury; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wisneski was predeceased by her
husband of 59 years, Frank Wisneski, her brother Edward Tracy, and her
daughter-in-law Lynne Marie Wisneski.
Interment will be at Mayflower Cemetery in
Duxbury with a family gathering and remembrance.
